AminoAcid KGO Enzyme Panel for hydroxylation of canonical and non-canonical amino acids
At Aminoverse, we understand that traditional screening campaigns can be time-intensive and often come with low success rates when using maximum diversity panels. That is why we built something more focused, the AminoAcid KGO Panel, 46 curated Fe(II)-alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent oxygenases, selected to deliver regio- and stereoselective oxyfunctionalization of amino acids and derivatives.
Which biocatalysts?
KGO stands for Fe(II)-alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent oxygenases (also known as 2OGs or αKGDs). These enzymes naturally act on non-activated C–H bonds and show a high preference for amino acid scaffolds, both canonical and non-canonical. While hydroxylation is their most common reaction, KGOs can also catalyze halogenation and even cyclopropanation. All under mild conditions at ambient temperature and pressure, with alpha-ketoglutarate and O₂ as co-substrates, ensuring regio- and stereoselective transformation.
Why curated?
Enzyme kits sometimes fall behind expectations with low or zero hits. At Aminoverse, we built a curation pipeline combining our bioinformatic mining, 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘰 biophysical modeling, and deep patent landscaping tools. Rather than relying only on sequence homology, we identify enzymes by predicted active site compatibility and reactivity toward amino acids as substrates.
The result: the AminoAcid KGO panel, enriched with biocatalysts either experimentally validated or with high-confidence predictions, boosting your chance of finding a patentable hit in a single screen. This panel is designed as a targeted supplement to our other KGO selections, complementing a wide range of carbon-based structures, such as fatty acids, terpenes, alkaloids, steroids, as well as KGOs active on nucleosides, nucleic acids, and oligomers.
