BioCarbon KGO Enzyme Panel for hydroxylation of fatty acids, terpenes, alkaloids, and steroids

Introducing: The KGO Enzyme Panel “BioCarbon” – 28 curated biocatalysts for regio- and enantioselective hydroxylation of fatty acids, terpenes, alkaloids, and steroids.

Which biocatalysts?
KGO stands for Fe(II)-alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent Oxygenases, also abbreviated as 2OGs or αKGDs , are prone to react on non-activated C-H bonds and have a natural preference for metabolic compounds. The most frequent reaction is hydroxylation, but the enzymes are also capable of cyclopropanation and halogenation. KGOs react at ambient temperatures and pressure, utilizing alpha-ketoglutarate and O2 as cosubstrates for regio- and stereoselective modification.

Why curated?
Screening kits often yield limited or no hits. To overcome this, Aminoverse developed a curation pipeline that integrates bioinformatic mining, in silico biophysical simulations, and patent research. This approach evaluates enzyme candidates not only by homology or known function, but also with structural compatibility and predicted reactivity toward specific substrate classes. The resulting Biocarbon KGO panel with either experimentally validated or high-confidence predicted activity on fatty acids, terpenes, alkaloids, and steroids, increases your probability of a patentable success in a single screen.
